About My Time as an Emerging Creative Producer: Emily

In January we said goodbye to our first group of Emerging Creative Producers – Audrey, Anjalina and Emily – who helped shape our venue at Westfield throughout 2024.
They were an amazing team who became well known to the young people of Newham Music. These Emerging Creative Producers helped organise many of the fantastic events that happened during 2024 and brought lots of their own ideas and creativity to Newham Music. We wish them the best as they take the next steps in their careers.
Here, Emily Bone shares her experience as an Emerging Creative Producer at Newham Music.
ABOUT MY TIME AS AN EMERGING CREATIVE PRODUCER
Over the past year I have had the pleasure of being a part of the wonderful Newham Music team.
From organising calls and visits to 6 different schools, 2 in-person inspiration days, and the final performance of over 120 young people for the Youth Ensemble Scheme Project, to managing our weekly choir and Music Unlocked sessions. From taking 70 Newham teenagers to perform on the West End in celebration with the Jack Petchey Foundation, and to proposing and producing the Opera in a Weekend project, this role has allowed me to expand and hone my skills in ways I could never have imagined beforehand.
My time at Newham Music, and the support received from each and every team member, has been immeasurable. I am leaving with full confidence for what lies ahead, and a solidified passion for what affordable arts spaces can do for communities. Coming into this role I wanted to learn about working with and for young people and the community, and that has happened 110%! Working with young people has been not just rewarding but inspirational too. Seeing their enthusiasm and what they can achieve gives me no doubt our Newham Music community will all go on to do great things!
For the rest of my life I will be pointing people towards Newham Music. Telling them how great it is to get involved. How much care and attention gets put into the work from every level of the organisation. And how much they have helped me grow.
I hope that this is not the end of my journey with Newham Music, but no matter where life goes, Newham Music will be coming with me.
