Hannah Peel & Will Burns + On Vanishing Land

October 26, 2019 @ 7:30 pm

£20.00

The musician and composer and the Faber New Poet join forces for an exploration into the electronic landscapes of England

Peel traces the lines between innateness and external landscapes using computerised intonations and patterned synthesisers, while Burns’s poetry harmonises these explorations, inspired by the heaths of Buckinghamshire where he lives. Their first collaborative album Chalk Hill Blue is also the name of an iridescent blue-grey butterfly which lives on the chalk heaths near his home. Combining these elements together, the duo showcases the consonance between nature, poetry and electronic music. They’re joined by ex-Cabaret Voltaire musician and pioneering field recordist Chris Watson, who’ll be interweaving his recordings of the Chalk Hill landscapes.

Opening the evening will be a playback of Mark Fisher and Justin Barton’s piece On Vanishing Land, evoking the landscapes of East Anglia with music by John Foxx, Gazelle Twin, Raime and more.
