Adapting your early years practice to a Challenging Circumstances context

December 6, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

£50

What role do the arts and music education play in our work with early years and families in challenging circumstances? What barriers do children in early years and their families face to accessing arts activities? What are the key skills and approaches we need to adopt to work in these contexts?

This workshop, led by Sally Anne Donaldson, will explore the current landscape of provision for young children and families living in London, and present the extraordinary work of Creative Homes; a home visiting service that brings artists into families homes to help them find creative solutions for day-to-day triggers of stress.

Together we will look at how to engage early years and families in challenging circumstances through creativity, interactively develop practical key skills and approaches, look at planning appropriate activity, and address the challenges associated with the work. The session will also explore meaningful evaluation and social impact tools and ideas for supporting progression.
