British Science Festival: The Tape of Life

September 13 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Immerse yourself in the weird and wonderful world of science this September as the British Science Festival lands in East London!

Like a cassette tape, things degrade over time the more we use them. It’s easy to assume the same logic applies to bodies. However, research on longer-lived animals shows us that this might not be the case.

Rates of ageing differ hugely between species – with some animals ageing much faster than others, and others seemingly not ageing at all. Join Jessica Foley from the University of Bristol to discover the vast diversity in ageing across the animal kingdom, and how this variety challenges the presumed “limits” to life.

Sing a tune into the lifespan-emulator and see how the tape of your life would play out differently if you’d been born a fruit fly, a tortoise, or even an immortal hydra. This event is best enjoyed with friends, so book as a group to make the most of your experience (up to 6 tickets available per session).

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
