Choir of King’s College London with Britten Sinfonia: Love and Summer

June 18, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

£9.50

The Lovers by Samuel Barber is one of the hidden gems of American choral-orchestral music. Based on the love poetry of Pablo Neruda, this work is possibly Barber’s masterpiece, yet is seldom heard in Europe. The Choir of King’s College, London and Britten Sinfonia come together to present the UK premiere of a Robert Kyr’s new chamber version of The Lovers, which portrays the intimacy and sincerity of Neruda’s poetry. They also give the UK premiere of Dominick Argento’s Walden Pond, and the world premiere of Robert Keeley’s Tre Canti di Ariel – three new choral settings of Shakespeare texts. Together, these three exciting works connect over themes of love and summer, perfect for a Sunday evening in June.
