About Jazz & Rock Week
This five-day course, which is now in its 35th year, is for instrumentalists and singers who want to develop their skills in jazz, rock and world music and feel inspired. The course will be led by the School’s staff of top musicians and renowned teachers.
Who is the course for?
Anyone aged 11+ with a passion for music. Whether you’re a beginner or an aspiring professional, all abilities are welcome. Classes and groups will be allocated by participant ability. Please note that previous summer schools have been split into the following groups: Jazz and Rock (ages 16+) and Junior Jazz and Rock (11-15) and whilst we will do our best to group participants aged 11-15 together for 2021, we cannot guarantee this.
What can I expect?
A friendly and vibrant week, consisting of instrumental and vocal workshops, jazz combos, rock bands, big bands, vocal groups, rhythm workshops, harmony and improvisation classes and recording opportunities.

Participation Bursaries are available for this course. Please note, the application deadline for participation bursaries is 1 June 2021.
Singers’ Weekend/Jazz & Rock Package
We offer an £80 discount if you book Singers’ Weekend (ages 16+) and Jazz & Rock Week together.
Dates: Saturday 24 – Friday 30 July 2021
Discounted course fee: £695 (for both courses)
Eligibility
For everyone aged 11+
- Recommended standard – ABRSM grade 3+. Auditions are not required.
- Participants must have sufficient English language skills to cope with course demands.
