Ever wondered what an orchestra’s role is in the 21st century?
Delve deeper as the BBC Concert Orchestra teams up with conductor Alice Farnham and presenter Tom Service of BBC Radio 3’s The Listening Service, to explore the multi-faceted role of an orchestra in the 21st century.
Tom Service leads us through orchestral experimentation of past eras to some of the most recognisable and emotive pieces of film music from Harry Potter and Jaws to Pyscho.
Help recreate the lively spirit of 19th century concert halls with Mozart’s Symphony No.31 and explore the function of the orchestra including ceremonial purposes and practical uses in the pit, as well as symbols of national unity thrown in along the way!
This concert’s colourful variety is an eye-opener of the orchestral evolution.
