Wild Singing: Songhive – Beelore & Folksong in the British Isles

March 15, 2020 @ 2:30 pm

£8.50

Songhive is a project founded by singer and musician Rowan Piggott, comprising songs of ‘beelore’ and folksong of the British Isles, to raise awareness of the current plight of the bees. Responsible for 80% of pollination in the UK, bees are essential to biodiversity.

Despite this, we continue to obliterate the pollen-rich plants they depend on, and legalise pesticides that do them harm. Folk music has long been linked with political dissent and attended by social change; this collection aims to highlight how the decline of bees has entered the public consciousness.

With Rowan Piggott (fiddle and vocals), Rosie Hodgson (voice/mandola) and Philippe Barnes (guitar/flute) along with Tom Evans (accordion/voice), it looks to be a varied & musically exciting selection from all corners of the folk scene.
