You Called, We Came is a Newham Music and Vital Arts project celebrating the Windrush Generation and their positive impact on London and the NHS.

Inspired by Newham Music’s Windrush 75 learning resource, local school choirs, Newham Hospital Staff Choir, and Newham Music’s Junior Repz Choir have learnt songs including London is the Place for Me by Windrush passenger Lord Kitchener, Jamaican folk song Dis Long Time Gal, and You Called, We Came – a song about the experience of coming to England in 1948 to rebuild the NHS.

The project will culminate in a performance at Newham Council’s Windrush Day event on 22 June 2024 at East Ham Town Hall.

Where? East Ham Town Hall, 328 Barking Road, London, E6 2RP
