Orchestral percussion

So much to do here… timpani (some people call them kettle drums), xylophone, snare drum, lots of hand held percussion… no two concerts are the same. You learn a wide variety of skills, but mostly, you learn to think quickly and think on your feet.

Although you’re not playing all the time, you have to be alert, as everyone’s relying on you for that cymbal smash!

You get to read music, which means you’re always valuable in an orchestra. Or in a wind band… Or in a brass band… Or in a jazz band… You won’t be bored!

We teach percussion in schools across the borough and at Newham Music Academy, our after-school and Saturday music centre. To enquire about lessons please email info@newham-music.org.uk or call us on 020 3598 6260.
