Double bass

The double bass is the biggest of the strings family,  you stand to play the bass, or you sit on a high stool. It’s got the same string set up as a bass guitar, so lots of people play both. This really suits people who enjoy holding everything together – the bass is the rock of the orchestra, and makes a huge difference to the sound. Popular with jazz bands, you’ll really find yourself in demand as a bass player.

We teach the double bass in schools across the borough and at Newham Music Academy, our after-school and Saturday music centre. To enquire about lessons please email info@newham-music.org.uk or call us on 020 3598 6260.
