Musical Rumpus tour this month

14 October 2015

Musical Rumpus: Lyrebird, a musical adventure for babies & toddlers, is touring the borough this October.

Newham Music has partnered with Spitalfields Music to bring their award-winning opera adventure series to Rebecca Cheetham’s Children Centre and Canberra Children’s Centre.

Musical Rumpus is an interactive opera series designed especially for 0-2 ½ years olds. Taking operatic works by composers such as Bach, Handel and Purcell – more familiar to adult audiences – Spitalfields Music creates a brand new story and multi-sensory experience for babies, toddlers and their parents to enjoy and explore. The tour is visiting Rebecca Cheetham’s Children’s Centre, Canberra Children’s Centre both supported by Newham Music and also to The Gate Library, Beckton Library and Custom House Library.

Musical Rumpus has been developed by Spitalfields Music with librettist and director Zoe Palmer and musician Sam Glazer, building on research that shows that live arts, especially music, supports young children’s cognitive and social growth and also encourages greater parent-child bonding.

Booking in advance is essential, please visit Spitalfield’s website for dates, times and booking information.
