Bravo on a world première from two of our very own!
April saw two of the Newham Music team united in the Welsh border town of Hay-on-Wye as Chris Brannick (Interim Senior Director) gave the world première of Organum Caudices composed by Julie Sharpe (Manager for Teacher and Learning).
Sara Stowe, soprano, sang alongside as Chris played vibraphone and marimba (keyboard percussion instruments). Audiences were spellbound by the intricately woven patterns of percussion and long held soprano notes. The rich acoustics of St Mary’s church provided the perfect setting for the première.
Sara and Chris are hoping to perform the piece again somewhere closer to Newham in the future! Until then, have a listen to this contemporary piece, below.
