Newham Music Student Named London Music Fund Scholar of the Month
3 August 2017
The London Music Fund has named one of our very own as their August Scholar of the Month!
Nathan, age 9, is one of Newham Music’s busiest young musicians. He takes drum, piano, and guitar lessons each week, and takes part in Ukenited ukelele group, Drum Squad, Guitar Ensemble, and the Newham Music Collective at our Saturday Academy. In the past year, Nathan has also taken his Grade 3 Drumming exam, Grade 1 Theory exam, and Grade 2 Piano Exam.
The London Music Fund (previously Mayor’s Music Fund) provides four-year scholarships to exceptional music students to cover their tuition, instrument costs, and ensemble fees while providing them exciting performance opportunities around the city of London. As a London Music Fund Scholar since September 2016, Nathan has had the opportunity to perform at the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, and City Hall with scholars from all 32 London boroughs.

From all of us at Newham Music, well done, Nathan, and big congrats!
