Newham Word Festival Events
2 November 2017
Next Saturday, 11th November, we’re offering special sessions of First Steps, Feeling Music, Little Starz, and All Starz as a part of the Newham Word Festival. All sessions will take place at their normal running time at Chobham Academy (40 Cheering Lane, Stratford, E20 1BD), but will be specially themed around musical storytelling and communication.
First Steps will read a selection of musical storybooks followed by a hands-on exploration of musical instruments for children age 3-7 from 9am.
Feeling Music is open to children and young people age 5-11 with SEN/D. This relaxed session will explore sounds and tones in speech and musical storytelling. Feeling Music starts at 9am.
Children aged 4-7 are invited to join the Little Starz choir as they explore musical storytelling and develop the first steps to songwriting from 10am.
Budding young singer-songwriters aged 7-11 – this session is for you! From 12.15pm join the All Starz choir as they sing and create new songs based on original lyrics written by YOU.
All sessions are free to attend but limited spaces are available, so registration is required. Please contact Newham Music by email at info@newham-music.org.uk or phone on 020 3598 6260 for more information or to register your child(ren).
The Newham Word Festival has been organised by Discover Children’s Story Centre, and runs until 19 November. For a full listing of events, please see their website.
