Newham young musicians perform with LSO

2 June 2016

Six young musicians from Newham Music took to the stage at Trafalgar Square to play with the world-renowned London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev at their annual open air event.

The young musicians have all been studying with Newham Music for many years and have dedicated themselves to this latest LSO On Track project whilst in the midst of exam season.

Stevie Ul Haq, violin, Darius William Alecu, violin, La’Karla Edwards-Webb, double bass, Ekene Onyewumbu, double bass, William McLucas, oboe and Noah Navaratnam trombone, have shown great levels of dedication by attending weekly rehearsals over the past month preparing for this fantastic concert.

LSO On Track is an initiative for young instrumentalists across East London. It brings together the excitement of live performance and the adrenalin rush of making music with others. LSO On Track is an ongoing partnership between London Symphony Orchestra’s learning & participation department (LSO Discovery) and 10 East London music hubs including Newham Music.
