NM Receives Funding from Mayor of London

31 January 2020

Newham Music is delighted to be amongst the second round recipients of funding from the Mayor’s Young Londoners Fund!

Our music production programme, Studio Sessions, has received a massive £144,000 boost over the next 3 years and will be able to reach many more budding musicians around the borough. In our Studio Sessions, young people are able to flex their beat-making, bar-dropping, and rap-writing skills whilst learning from industry professionals in weekly sessions around Newham. Our facilitators support young musicians to build resilience and improve wellbeing through music production skills development.

If you’re interested in music production, feel free to drop into a session or contact us for more information. We currently run Studio Sessions in three locations across the borough:

Thursdays 3.30-5.30pm
Little Ilford Learning Zone
1a Rectory Rd, London E12 6JB

Fridays 5pm-7pm
ASTA Community Centre
14A Camel Road, Silvertown, London E16 2DE

Saturdays 10am-12.30pm
Lister Community School
St Mary’s Road, Plaistow, London E13 9AE

The Mayor created the £45m Young Londoners Fund to help London’s children and young adults make the most of our amazing city and get the support they need to build a better future for themselves. It will support a range of education, sport, and cultural activities in local communities. Newham Music is one of the second group of projects to receive the Young Londoners Fund. The projects that have received this funding include everything from theatre groups and employability training to football clubs and art sessions.
