Music, Disability and Technology redefining traditional music-making
Music Unlocked is Newham Music’s inclusive provision for children and young people with Special Education Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). From in-school whole-class lessons to our weekend Music Unlocked sessions, our specialist team of teacher musicians can support a variety of needs in each setting.
All-ability inclusive music-making sessions for Disabled and neurodivergent young people aged 7-25, their parents, carers and siblings.
Neurodivergent and Disabled young people are invited to participate alongside professional musicians to explore traditional and non-traditional instruments, experiment with music technology and create their own music together. The sessions will be accessible, welcoming and engaging for all.
Facilitated by Drake Music in partnership with Newham Music.

We deliver weekly sessions in Newham schools that are designed to fit the specific needs of the pupils and the school.
Our team of specialist teacher musicians consult with key members of staff at your school to design lessons that are appropriate, safe, and geared towards learning outcomes and goals you’ve identified. This includes small group sessions, additional support sessions outside mainstream music lessons, or individual lessons for pupils with special educational needs or disabilities.
We also work with a range of musical and cultural partners to offer short projects and one-off performance opportunities for schools with a focus on music for young people with SEND.
To enquire or book provision for your school, email info@newham-music.org.uk.
Newham Music has partnered with Drake Music to develop a team of specialist teachers to support music in SEND settings across the borough.
