Vocal Academy

Vocal Academy is our singing progression offer for young people aged 5-17, led by Newham Music’s dynamic vocal teachers.

All sessions will take place at Shipman Youth Zone, 340 Prince Regent Lane, E16 3JH

Tuesday evenings:

5.15-6.15pm – Junior Repz Choir is for ages 8-12 (Years 4-7). These are fun sessions where children will learn a wide range of songs, develop vocal technique, get opportunities to perform, and meet others who love singing. Book here

6.30-8pm – Musical Theatre Singing Club is for ages 12-17 (Years 8-12). Explore musical theatre songs, develop vocal skills for the stage, and get involved in Newham Music’s projects and performance. This term the choir will be rehearsing for their Cabaret Night, which they will perform later in the Academic Year. Book here

Saturday afternoons:

12-1pm – Singing Stars Choir is an introduction to group singing for children aged 5 – 8 (Years 1-3). Our Singing Stars will discover their voices by joining in singing games and exploring part-singing and movements. Book here

Come To The Caberet!

Newham Music’s Musical Theatre Singing Club invites you to ‘Come to the Cabaret’ – A sophisticated, immersive cabaret evening featuring songs all the way from the Golden Age to contemporary musical theatre. An exciting and exhilarating evening for all!

Into The Woods Jr

Musical Theatre Singing Club performed four sold out performances of Into The Woods Jr. by Stephen Sondheim in January 2026. The cast of 17 played two parts each and worked incredibly hard in rehearsals in a short amount of time, and the shows were fantastic! You can watch the highlights here.

Sing Loud , Sing Newham

Junior Repz and Musical Theatre Singing Club were standout performances at Sing Loud, Sing Newham at Silverworks Island in July 2025, during Newham Music’s Festival of Youth! Both choirs featured solo performances and were supported by Newham school choirs.

Celebrating 25 Years of the Jack Petchey Foundation

Four Newham schools – Lister, Chobham, St Angela’s and Brampton Manor – and our Musical Theatre Singing Club had the fantastic opportunity to perform songs on the West End! They were part of the Jack Petchey Foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration event at His Majesty’s Theatre in Haymarket in December 2024.

The Stopping Place

Our Senior Repz Choir (now Musical Theatre Singing Club) joined Brolly Productions‘ core group of performers for their production of The Stopping Place in Summer 2024!

The Stopping Place is a powerful opera work drawing on music of the Roma tradition, staging the history of the Roma holocaust with two central characters of Roma heritage and a chorus, choir and orchestra drawn from secondary schools in Newham, East London.

Brolly Productions created and produced The Stopping Place in collaboration with composer Tate Hingorani-Short and in partnership with Newham Music and the University of East London.

You Called , We Came

As part of Newham Music’s You Called, We Came project in June 2024, the Junior Repz Choir learnt songs from our Windrush 75 repertoire. Songs included London is the Place for Me, Dis Long Time Gal, and You Called, We Came, which explored the culture and experiences of the Windrush Generation.

The five weeks of rehearsals culminated into a performance at Newham Council’s Windrush Day event at East Ham Town Hall!
