Senior Voices Day: An afternoon of performing arts inspiration for secondary school choirs

Senior Voices Day is an annual event where local secondary schools get together for an inspiring afternoon of performing arts inspiration!

On the day, choirs participate in an interactive workshop led by a Newham Music Vocal Teacher which teaches students about a range of vocal techniques in line with the year’s theme. The day ends with a performance from all participating choirs to motivate each other and celebrate the vocal talent and community of Newham.

Senior Voices Day 2026

Senior Voices Day is back! And this year we’re venturing ‘Into The Woods’…

Secondary school choirs will join the cast of Newham Music’s recent production of Stephen Sondheim’s musical Into The Woods for one afternoon only.

Theme: Storytelling Through Song

Choirs will learn and perform Children Will Listen and Everafter from the Schools Production in an afternoon, alongside the Newham Music Musical Theatre Singing Club cast, led by Director, Rebecca Milford.

Choirs and teachers will gain confidence and skill in conveying a story in performance with vibrancy, cohesion and choral skill.

Senior Voices Day 2024

In 2024 we were joined by some special guests… the BBC Singers! The BBC Singers performed an inspiring choral piece followed by an interactive workshop for the students.

Theme: Our Strength!

The day was be an empowering and energising experience for choir leaders and students and that aimed to leave teachers feeling ready to promote your school choir effectively, born out of the need to boost singing participation in schools post-COVID.
