1. Newham Music’s Proms Go Pop Summer School
13-17 August | Ages 9-13 and 13-18
Newham Music will host an instrumental summer school for all ages and abilities culminating in a celebration day of performances, workshops, and family activities. Young musicians will experience playing in a large orchestra, make accelerated progress on their instrument and take part in a public performance.
2. Breakin’ Convention Hip Hop Theatre Workshop
5-9 August | Ages 13-16
EAST Education Summer School is taking place at Here East this Summer. Take a varied and interactive 5-day workshop spanning rap, grime, music, theatre skills and dramaturgy as you work on produce a creative project of your own.
3. Grand Union Youth Orchestra Residential Summer School
29 July – 1 August | Ages 12-21
This annual event is a unique opportunity for young musicians to learn about world music first hand from internationally-renowned musicians born and brought up in all major musical traditions worldwide and develop their improvisation and creative skills. Players of non-European instruments are particularly welcome. The 2019 summer school will again take place at Writtle University College, Chelmsford.
4. Trinity Laban Young Musicians’ Summer School
30 July – 1 August | Ages 11+
Guided by inspirational tutors and musicians from Trinity Laban and beyond, you will work towards a finale event at a nearby historic location on the Royal Naval College site, choosing your own Major and Minor workshop groups from a range of exciting options. You could be interested in joining a band or experimenting in an orchestra, in looping or sequencing, in writing music or just playing it with others – choose from a range of options and come and get creative this summer!
5. BYMT Musical Theatre Boot Camp
18-24 August | Ages 17-21
This 6-day, intensive residential summer course in musical theatre skills will equip you with the unique skill set and knowledge needed to be competitive and to excel in the theatre industry. The programme incorporates focused training in acting, singing and movement, with talks, masterclasses and seminars designed to illuminate career pathways, build confidence and demystify the audition process.
6. BYMT Summer Camp: Why The Whales Came
19-24 August | Ages 11-17
Summer Camps are fun-filled summer activity holidays providing intense, creative training in musical theatre for anyone aged 11-17 looking to explore their potential and develop their acting, singing and dancing abilities. You’ll work with top theatre professionals and create a brand new show in just a week on these exciting residential projects. Summer Camps do not require an audition – so get booking as it’s first come, first served!
7. Point Blank’s Singing Summer School
5-9 August | Ages 11-13
12-16 August | Ages 14-19
Point Blank’s Singing Summer School is where you come if you want to learn to sing and perform like a professional singer. You will spend five days (Mon to Fri) learning with a vocalist who has worked with some of the biggest names in music including Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Robbie Williams and Chaka Khan. The course reveals professional vocal techniques used by recording artists including former Point Blank student Leona Lewis. Whatever style of music inspires you, we’ll show you how to deliver a great performance on stage or in the studio. At the end of the week, you’ll get to perform on stage in front of the class as well as invited friends and family!
8. Point Blank’s DJ Summer School
27-28 July | Ages 14-19

If you’ve always wanted to learn to DJ then this is the course for you. You will spend 2 days (Sat & Sun) in Point Blank’s incredible Pioneer- sponsored DJ studio learning to mix alongside a pro DJ. Classes are taught in small groups and every student has their own DJ workstation featuring the latest technology so you get plenty of hands-on experience using professional DJ gear. Learn to mix with the original and best DJ School. All music styles are of course welcome.
9. BIMM Music Production Summer School
29 July – 2 August | Ages 11-17
Want to be a producer and learn how to create your own music? At BIMM’s Music Production Summer School, you’ll get to play with the very latest cutting edge music production tools for five whole days! You’ll be guided by professional producers to develop and create music in any style that takes your fancy. Experts will be on hand to teach you how to use their kit, so you’ll come away with a working knowledge of both Ableton Live and their fantastic Push instrument.
10. BIMM Music Performance Summer School
Indie/Pop – 29 July – 2 August | Ages 11-17
Rock/Metal – 5-9 August | Age 11-17
The Music Performance Summer Schools run over five days and consists of four mornings of dedicated tuition on your instrument, followed by a live performance workshop every afternoon to hone your performance skills on stage guided by your tutors and a different special guest each day. The last day will involve forming bands and rehearsing your favourite track of the week in preparation for an afternoon performance for your friends and family.
BONUS! Trinity Laban Girls and Young Women in Jazz Day 2019
3 July | Ages 11-25
A Taste of Jazz is an exciting day of jazz exploration and performance for girls aged 11-16. You will work in small groups based on your musical experience, so whether you’ve hardly improvised before or have been performing in your school jazz band for years, this day is for you.
Young Women in Jazz offers 16-25-year-olds a more intensive opportunity to develop skills, meet like-minded musicians and inspiring mentors. Relevant to female musicians interested in conservatoire level study of jazz and with existing experience of playing jazz.
